At L.I.F.E. Chiropractic in Phoenix, AZ we want you to know there is nothing mysterious about the basis of chiropractic. It’s a natural method of healing by removing anything in your body that is keeping the nerves from working properly.

Doctors of Chiropractic are trained to diagnose and treat any disorder of the neuromusculoskeletal system and analyze the effects of these disorders on general health and well-being. Chiropractic care is most often used to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints, arms or legs, and headaches. Chiropractors also employ a variety of techniques to treat associated soft tissue ailments, such as muscle soreness, tightness or spasm, repetitive use injuries (tendonitis), sprains/strains and sports injuries.

Chiropractors practice a drug-free, hands-on approach to healthcare that includes patient examination, diagnosis and treatment. Chiropractors have broad diagnostic skills and are also trained to recommend therapeutic stretches and rehabilitative exercises, as well as to provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counseling.

A common therapeutic procedure performed by doctors of chiropractic is known as spinal manipulation, also called a chiropractic adjustment. The purpose of spinal manipulation is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force to joints that have become restricted in their movement, usually as a result of an acute injury or a chronic/postural issue. Manipulation of the affected joint and tissues restores mobility and increases circulation to the joint and surrounding tissues, thereby alleviating pain and stiffness and allowing the tissues to heal.

Chiropractic Treatment

In many cases, such as lower back pain, chiropractic care may be the primary method of treatment. When other medical conditions exist, chiropractic care may complement or support medical treatment by relieving the musculoskeletal aspects associated with the condition.

Doctors of chiropractic may assess patients through clinical examination, laboratory testing, diagnostic imaging and other diagnostic interventions to determine when chiropractic treatment is appropriate. Chiropractors will frequently refer patients to the appropriate health care provider when chiropractic care is not suitable for the patient’s condition, or the condition warrants co-management in conjunction with other members of a healthcare team.

Nerves control everything in your body!

We focus on finding and correcting the cause of conditions and illness, rather than just treating the symptoms. In our current healthcare system most people wait until they have symptoms before they go to the doctor. If you wait until you have symptoms the disease/sickness has been in your body for some time. Symptoms are a very poor way to measure one’s health. Doctors of chiropractic practice wellness and prevention care.

Chiropractors focus on building your health by educating you on all aspects of health such as nutrition, exercise, and most importantly your Neurological System. With a normally functioning spine and healthy Nerve System, your body is able to heal itself of any condition.

Misalignments of your spine and poor health

No part of your body escapes the dominance of your nervous system. Improper function of the spine due to slight misalignments—called subluxations—can cause poor health or function, even in areas far removed from the spine and spinal cord itself. Misalignments can also reduce the ability of your body to adapt to its ever-changing environment. Even the slightest malfunction of your spine may alter the regular transmission of nerve impulses, preventing that portion of your body from responding optimally.

Natural health care without drugs or surgery

Chiropractic is a natural form of health care that uses spinal adjustments to correct these misalignments and restore proper function to the nervous system, helping your body to heal naturally.

Chiropractic doesn’t use drugs or surgery. Rather, a chiropractic spinal adjustment—the application of a precise force to a specific part of the spinal segment—corrects the misalignment, permitting normal nerve transmission and assisting your body to recuperate on its own.

So what do we treat?

Most patients first come to see us for neck and back pain, headaches and migraines; hip, leg, knee and foot problems; shoulder, arm, and wrist problems.

But what we really treat is the spine and nervous system using a whole body, vitalistic approach – affecting the nervous system and in return the body heals itself, naturally.

Five Reasons People Consult Our Practice

Obvious Spinal Problem

Most people associate chiropractic care with headaches, neck and back problems. Our interest in the spine is because it houses the nervous system that carries vital communications between your brain and your body.

Visceral or Organic Complaints

Some consult our practice for “non-back” health problems. If the patient has vertebral subluxations, chiropractic care may be helpful. And while formal research is limited, we’ve had personal experiences with those suffering from bedwetting, asthma, colic and even stomach problems.

Natural Drug Free Health Care

Those who wish to avoid drugs or surgery will often visit our practice first. Chiropractic care is a safe, natural approach to better health.

Maintenance and Prevention

If you’ve had chiropractic care elsewhere, you already know the value of ongoing chiropractic care. We’d be honored to be your chiropractor.

Stay Well

We experience life through our nervous system. Those who want to optimize their health, be all that they can be and perform at their best!  Begin your chiropractic care today.

What Are Vertebral Subluxations?

A vertebral subluxation is the result of spinal bones with improper motion or position affecting nerve communications between your brain and your body.

sub = less than | luxation = dislocation

A vertebral subluxation is a stress response. Muscles go into spasm. Spinal bones lock up. And adjacent nerves are choked or chafed. This interferes with the control and regulation of your body. This garbles communications between the brain and parts of your body.

Distorted nerve communications can be an underlying cause of many health problems beyond just headaches and back pain. For example. Interfere with nerve impulses going to or from your stomach: stomach problems.

Your nervous system controls every cell, tissue, organ and system of your body. These nerve impulses travel through your spine. So having a spine free of vertebral subluxations is essential for optimal health.

Only a chiropractic examination can detect vertebral subluxations. And only chiropractic adjustments can reduce their effect to your nervous system, naturally.

Find out if you have vertebral subluxations before they become more serious and more difficult to correct.

Adjustments

A Chiropractic adjustment is the use of a specific force in a precise direction that helps normalize spinal function. The adjustment is applied to a joint that is fixated, “locked up”, or not moving properly. Adjustments help return the bones to a more normal position or motion, restoring body’s natural healing.

What does it do?

Adjustments help normalize spinal function and avoid bone and soft tissue degeneration. When nervous system function improves in this way, the body can begin the natural healing process.

What do adjustments feel like?

After the adjustment, many patients report a sense of well-being or a feeling of calmness. Others feel improved mobility. Inflammation or muscle spasms may delay these positive effects. Chiropractors excel at making adjustments comfortable and effective.

Is it safe?

YES! Chiropractic adjustments are so safe, even newborns and children receive adjustments to repair the damage caused from the birth process, learning to walk, or other childhood trauma. Each adjustment is tailored to each patient’s age, size, and unique spinal problem. After years of training, each Chiropractor has selected a variety of methods and become skilled in their delivery.

In fact, adverse effects of medical treatment is the principal cause of death in people under 45 years of age, as well as being the leading cause of morbidity and permanent disability. Costing Australians $401 million dollars per year and consumed 16% of Australia’s total annual health system expenditure for injury. 17% of hospital admission results in adverse events, 5% results in death, and 50,000 people per year are permanently disabled as a result of their medical treatment (from The report, Health System Costs of Injury, Poisoning and Musculoskeletal Disorders in Australia 1993-1994).

Yes! A New Zealand government study concluded that Chiropractic adjustments are “remarkably safe.” Taking an over-the-counter pain reliever is about 100 times more risky.

Why an adjustment?

A Chiropractic adjustment corrects Vertebral Subluxations. An adjustment helps your body to restore itself to optimum health! When the 24 bones that protect the spinal cord lose their normal position or motion, delicate nerve tissue can become choked or irritated. If a thorough examination reveals malfunctioning areas of the spine, Chiropractic adjustments are recommended to help correct this malfunction.

Each day millions of delighted people choose Chiropractic over drugs or surgery, as a common sense approach to better health.
